Diego Faivre presents Diego Super Bonza Store, with guest David Wadelton.
Diego Faivre is a French designer and artist based in The Netherlands, known for his playful and conceptual approach to design.
Useful Objects welcomes Diego to Melbourne for his first solo exhibition in Australia. Inspired by the disappearing cultural icon of the suburban Milk Bar, Diego Super Bonza Store will transform the gallery into a performative space of rapid creation, community participation and exchange.

The exhibition will present as part gallery presentation, part makeshift factory and part idiosyncratic retail environment. Diego will work in the space for the first month, creating a cumulative exhibition of objects made on-site in full view of visitors. Following this, the public is invited to participate in weekend workshops with Diego on Saturdays in December (2–6pm on the 7th, 14th and 21st December), where they can make their own Diego Faivre-inspired design works for display in the exhibition.
In addition, from 15 January 2025, Diego has invited Melbourne artist David Wadelton to join him in this exhibition with a suite of five recent photographs, documenting local milk bars.
Diego’s ongoing project, Minute Manufacturing, has been evolving for over seven years and is deeply influenced by his experience working in a factory, where every action was timed. This experience fuels his interest in time pressure, transparency, and efficiency, which he explores through his creative process. Diego invites us to reconnect with design as expressive and human-centered, by embracing a playful approach to its creation.
A graduate of the famed Eindhoven Design Academy, Diego’s recent projects include the Mini Golf Extravaganza at the 2024 Salone del Mobile in Milan, where his design vision brought to life interactive installations that encouraged participants of all ages to play.
David Wadelton is a Melbourne based artist renowned for his paintings and photography, which includes rigorous documentation of the urban, suburban and periurban built environment, in and around Melbourne. David is represented by M.33, Melbourne.
Fabrication of works at Useful Objects has been kindly supported by Foamex Australia.
