Alexandra Blac x Marcus Piper

GAMUT

03.10.2024 – 02.11.2024

Curated by Atelier Jade Niklai

GAMUT is a unique creative partnership between Alexandra Blac, Australia’s avant-garde fashion accessories designer-maker and Marcus Piper, a leading multi-disciplinary creative, working at the intersection of analogue and digital design.

GAMUT, the exhibition’s title, refers to a spectrum of colour, while alluding to the full range of human emotion and hope. Alongside new bodies of work by each designer, the centrepiece of the exhibition is an ambitious collaborative piece made exclusively for the show.

Together, Blac and Piper present a limited edition hand-crafted chandelier, a form reimagined for the now and future. Comprising large shards of acrylic with distinct neon visual features, the hyper-contemporary work casts coloured swathes of light on surrounding surfaces through reflection and refraction.

Alexandra Blac presents three new sculptural pieces, limited edition works which double as functional furniture pieces made from transparent acrylic and produced by hand. In addition, an exclusive range of wearable objects echo the exhibition’s spectacular take on neon green, pink and orange, which will be recognisable to fashion editors and collectors as Blac’s quintessential visual language.

Marcus Piper showcases new two-dimensional artworks made from printed, embossed, sand-blasted and mirrored glass. The geometric shapes and innovative manufacturing techniques reflect his skill at melding a background in both industrial and graphic design.
