Description
Working into the surface of a mirrored glass sheet, this work is a result from an intense period of material experimentation by Marcus Piper. It extends his previous works that use aluminium, here using cutting edge techniques to render the abstract image in and on the surface of the glass, to give the work an uncanny depth.
The work features a monochrome composition, which is animated and punctuated with colour by the environment it is placed within. Operating as its own image plane, the work also fragments and reflects the space it inhabits, reconfiguring temporally the world of the viewer. The image resolves as a refined graphical language, featuring geometric shapes that feel at once ancient and futuristic.
